Launch of our New Website!
Welcome to our brand new Kilmacud Carmel website!!
We hope that you enjoy browsing the pages, and we
hope to add to the content gradually. We will announce
new uploads here, so check back regularly!!
This website has been designed and built entirely
within our monastery, and as we are not web-
development experts, we kept things simple! But that
reflects our lifestyle, so we think it is appropriate! We
invite you to visit our “reflections” page, which is
updated regularly with a contribution from one of six
Sisters of the Community.
Please let us know if you find any glitches or problems
with this website, and we will do our best to rectify them
as soon as possible! Thank you for visiting, God bless,
and happy browsing!!
Sr Mary John of the Heart of Jesus
Wednesday 25th March, feast of the Annunciation, is
the first anniversary of our dear Sr Mary John of the
Heart of Jesus (Maureen Twomey). She was 90 years
old when she flew into the arms of Jesus, after a very
difficult final few weeks. Please pray for her happy
repose, and for the comfort of her family at this time.
History Corner
You can find two “foundation stones” outside the front
of our monastery - one on the gable wall of the chapel
and one on the new building. The foundation stone for
the chapel was laid by His Grace Dr. William Walsh,
Archbishop of Dublin, on 4th June 1896.
Fr John Grennan, Carmelite Provincial, laid the
foundation stone of the new monastery on 1st October
2003. Next time you visit us, why not have a look for
the two stones!!
Corona Virus Global Pandemic - updated
The Sisters here at Kilmacud Carmel are sharing very
much in the concerns and anxieties of the whole world
during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We are striving
to keep up to date with the advice and directions of civil
and Church authorities. Our concern is not only for
ourselves but for our families, friends, helpers, and the
many wonderful people who join us regularly for the
celebration of the Eucharist or who call to us for various
reasons. Sadly we have had to restrict our contacts
with you all for the moment, but be assured that
although physically separated, you are remembered in
our prayers each day, and we entrust the whole world
to God’s mercy for healing, comfort and an end to this
pandemic very soon. We ask for God’s protection and
strength for all “front-line” workers. We pray for those
searching for a suitable vaccine. May the Spirit guide
their important work.
Mary, Queen of Carmel, pray for us.
Pray with us, but remember social distancing!!
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin requested that whilst no
public Masses are being offered, churches should be
open for some time each day to allow a space for quiet
and prayer to those who wish to visit. This is provided
that social distancing is observed and that the area is
cleaned regularly. Our chapel will be open from 4.30pm
- 6.00pm each day. When you visit, please observe the
guidelines displayed, use the hand sanitiser and
maintain suitable distance from others who may be in
the chapel. Thank you.

Pope Francis’s Prayer to Mary
during Coronavirus Pandemic
O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of
salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you,
Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in
Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of Your People, know what we
need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as
in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to
feasting after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the
will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus,
who has taken upon himself our sufferings and
carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross,
to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.
Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy
Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we
who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger,
O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
