A Life of Prayer

Sisters praying the Divine Office

Prayer is the most important aspect of our life, so we have dedicated a complete section of this website to the subject of prayer - click on the link in the main topic menu above to visit the Prayer Section of this site.
There you can learn more about the different types of prayer that we do, some advice for developing your own prayer life, some thoughts from our Carmelite saints about prayer, and also visit the "Prayer Request" section of this site where you can submit your own intentions.

Sister in prayer room

Every day we recite the complete Liturgy of the Hours together - this consists of
seven periods of prayer of varying length, the most important being
Morning Prayer (Lauds) and Evening Prayer (Vespers).
These two are like the "hinges" of our day of prayer.
In addition to prayer recited together, each sister
spends at least two hours each day in private meditation.

Of course, all our prayer flows from our
Daily Eucharist celebrated each morning.
